For those of you who work all day and don't have time to take care of a dog yet really like dogs might consider taking care of a "Virtual Dog" on a new iPhone application called "Touch Pets Dogs."
You can take care of the dog, teach it tricks, pick out a new puppy, make it fetch, etc.
Well look at it this way, its free and No need to pick up hair and yard gifts!

Two-Legged Dog Inspires Handicapped Soldiers
Here's a great uplifting story of a dog who has to walk upright as a result being born without it's two front legs. This dog is a hero and a comfort to disabled soldiers.

Chicago Residents Can Keep Their Dogs.....
Residents can have at least a 3-Dog-Night in Chicago now, for the time being. A rule that proposed a 5 dog limit isn't popular with residents or veterinarians. It would've forced dog owners to choose which dog(s) to get rid of! Yikes!

Protect Your Pets on Halloween
Watch that your dogs do not ingest a lot of chocolate candy. Some dogs react very badly to it and have died. Other dogs can get sick after ingesting even small amounts. Giving them one candy here and there won't really harm them but it's best to concentrate on healthy treats.
Here's some good tips on protecting pets, specifically dogs on Halloween:

Utah Pet Psychic Talks With Dogs
Here's another Pet Psychic who claims she "talks" with dogs. There are quite a few of these "Dog Whisperers." Some I'm sure are legit and some just want attention.
This woman in "Paula Davis" would rather talk to dogs than people at a barbecue. One point in her favor is she works with a Salt Lake City vet in helping owners understand their pets. I assume the vet wouldn't be paying her if they didn't think she was legit and provided a benefit to his customers.

The Dog Show Continues...
The Westminster Kennel Club is having it's annual dog show Feb. 9th through Feb. 10th '09. Tonight the "Scotty" or Scottish Terrier won the Terrier Group-my fav group. The Havanese is my favorite breed as that is what my dog is but once you've owned a Terrier you never can never lose the love of Terriers-the little terrors!
Here is the schedule for Tuesday Feb. 10th:
NIGHT 1:
Monday, February 9
Hound, Terrier, Non-Sporting and Herding Groups
8-9 p.m. (ET) live on USA Network
9-11 p.m. (ET) live on CNBC
NIGHT 2:
Tuesday, February 10
Sporting, Working and Toy Groups, Best In Show
8-11 p.m. (ET) live on USA Network
Breed judging highlight videos are available throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday on the Westminster Web site. These highlights will be available after the show, as well.
To our West Coast viewers: Please note that the West Coast telecast is delayed for your time zone. Since results are posted to our Web site as they occur live, if you want to enjoy the drama of the moment, please avoid the Westminster Web site after 5 p.m. Pacific Time on each evening.
The final judging of "Best In Show" always has a smashing ending so try not to miss it. I have a lot of enduring memories of the dogs who win best in show-they're all gems. One of my favorites was the Bichon Frise who won in 2001. As soon as the dog realized he won best in show he started to raise both front paws and wave them up and down in an excited fashion as if to say "I won! I won!" Everybody was laughing as the dog was so excited to win and get attention.
Who'll win this year?

Dog Biscuits Recalled by Petsmart
Because of the ongoing peanut butter scare throughout the country, Petsmart has recalled products it carries that contain peanuts. Fear of Salmonella poisoning if motivating the recall. No dogs have been reported harmed by peanut products as of yet.
