Best In Show Winner

The winner of the Westminster Kennel Club's "Best In Show" is "Sadie" a Scottish Terrier. Sadie, up against a fine group of competitors, strutted her way to victory in front of a cheering Madison Square Garden crowd on Tuesday night.

Other worthy Best In Show contenders were a Doberman Pinscher, the Puli, French Bulldog, Whippet, Toy Poodle, etc.

As for Sadie The Scottish Terrier-“She was perfect,” said her handler, Gabriel Rangel. “I couldn’t ask for anything else.”

The judge who chose Sadie as Best In Show said “This is very special,” he said as he gestured to her as she celebrated on the table. “A dog of this quality comes along once every 10 years,” he added, recalling the 2001 winner, a Bichon frise, as the last one of Sadie’s singular caliber. “Her breed character is fabulous — she thinks very highly of herself. Her coat is absolutely breathtaking.”

Congratulations to winner Sadie and all the canine participants in this year's Westminster Kennel Club's dog festival. It was a great and fun show.

Latest Westminster Dog Show Results

As usual, another fine night for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Everything went smoothly except for a few little "relievements" that occurred. By the dogs that is.

Here's the results of last nights group finals:

* Toy Group: Winner: Toy Poodle

* Hound Group: Winner: Whippet

* Non-Sporting: Winner: French Bulldog

* Herding: Winner: Puli

Many are tired of seeing the little "Pepi Le Pugh" French Toy Poodles win almost every year but at least some variety was introduced with the Puli (Heavily Corded Coat), the Whippet and of course the favorite of many-the French Bull Dog.

In fact the most watched videos on the Westminster site are videos of the French Bulldog and the Bulldog! What? Nobody watching the Pepi Le Pugh's? Shocking!

The Dog Show Continues...

The Westminster Kennel Club is having it's annual dog show Feb. 9th through Feb. 10th '09. Tonight the "Scotty" or Scottish Terrier won the Terrier Group-my fav group. The Havanese is my favorite breed as that is what my dog is but once you've owned a Terrier you never can never lose the love of Terriers-the little terrors!

Here is the schedule for Tuesday Feb. 10th:

NIGHT 1:
Monday, February 9
Hound, Terrier, Non-Sporting and Herding Groups
8-9 p.m. (ET) live on USA Network
9-11 p.m. (ET) live on CNBC

NIGHT 2:
Tuesday, February 10
Sporting, Working and Toy Groups, Best In Show
8-11 p.m. (ET) live on USA Network

Breed judging highlight videos are available throughout the day on Monday and Tuesday on the Westminster Web site. These highlights will be available after the show, as well.

To our West Coast viewers: Please note that the West Coast telecast is delayed for your time zone. Since results are posted to our Web site as they occur live, if you want to enjoy the drama of the moment, please avoid the Westminster Web site after 5 p.m. Pacific Time on each evening.

The final judging of "Best In Show" always has a smashing ending so try not to miss it. I have a lot of enduring memories of the dogs who win best in show-they're all gems. One of my favorites was the Bichon Frise who won in 2001. As soon as the dog realized he won best in show he started to raise both front paws and wave them up and down in an excited fashion as if to say "I won! I won!" Everybody was laughing as the dog was so excited to win and get attention.

Who'll win this year?

Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Tonight and Tomorrow Night!

Dog lovers rejoice! THE dog show of the year is on for two consecutive nights starting at 8pm tonight on USA Network.

But, be aware that only the first hour of tonight's show will be on USA Network tonight. The second and third hour of tonight's show will be aired on cable network CNBC. Odd but true! Tomorrow's show will stay on the USA Network for all 3 hours.

You'll have to check with your local cable company to see if they carry the CNBC Network on their system unless you already are a viewer, then there's no problem.

Here's the link to CNBC Here!

Visit the Westminster Kennel Club's site below and you can see videos, upload photos, find an adoptable dog, and participate in the "community" forum they have there.
